Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of all broadcast technologies and equipment across the station and transmitter locations. Familiarity with systems such as Ross Overdrive, robotic cameras, Chyron Prime, and NewsTicker is advantageous.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer to enhance and implement technological advancements and infrastructure improvements.
  • Assist in the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all station equipment.
  • Manage and repair HVAC systems for both studio and transmitter environments.
  • Install, maintain, and repair studio lighting, computing devices, furniture, and other essential equipment.
  • Support the upkeep of the station's vehicle fleet, including live satellite trucks and operational vehicles.
  • Contribute to capital projects, including design, installation, and ongoing maintenance.

Compensation: Salary range is $35K-$40K, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

  • A Technical Degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with digital electronic systems in a broadcasting context is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills are preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Physical Requirements:

The Broadcast Engineering Technician must be capable of standing for extended periods, sitting, reaching, climbing ladders, conducting phone conversations, and utilizing electronic mail. This role requires independent decision-making and collaboration with colleagues. The position may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions as well as indoor work in controlled environments. The technician must be able to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and should be adept at using tools and controls. Repetitive movements may be necessary.
