Position Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is in search of a driven professional to enhance our Geotechnical division. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will leverage your specialized knowledge and innovative approaches to tackle prominent and complex projects. Collaborating with a team of skilled Project Managers, Principals, and fellow Engineers, you will play a crucial role in our multi-disciplinary initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or participate in field assignments, overseeing geotechnical explorations.
  • Review and coordinate field and laboratory soil testing assignments.
  • Conduct geotechnical analyses, including evaluations of bearing capacity, stability assessments, excavation support designs, and seepage analyses.
  • Design foundations, excavation supports, retaining structures, embankments, dams, and other geotechnical systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering calculation packages.
  • Draft technical specifications, design drawings, and construction submittals ensuring compliance with contract stipulations and design criteria.
  • Engage in construction observation and specialized inspections.
  • Effectively communicate with contractors, clients, and team members.
  • Occasional weekend and overtime work may be necessary; limited travel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is preferred, with 2-5+ years of relevant experience.
  • EIT certification is mandatory.
  • PE certification or the ability to obtain it within six months is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, REVIT, or other CAD software is beneficial.
  • Experience or academic training in geotechnical software such as SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, SETTLE3D, L-Pile is preferred; knowledge of DEEPEx or PLAXIS is a plus.
  • Experience with soil laboratories and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to project sites is required.
  • Drug testing may be part of the hiring process.
