Nexstar Broadcasting is in search of a skilled Broadcast Engineering Technician to support the daily operations of our television station, including the upkeep and repair of studio equipment and transmission systems.

The primary role of the Broadcast Engineering Technician involves ensuring the reliability of the station's technical framework while facilitating a dynamic news environment.

Ideal candidates should possess a diverse skill set and be comfortable with a variety of tasks on a daily basis. This is a full-time role that offers comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of all broadcasting technology and equipment across the station and transmitter locations. Familiarity with systems such as Ross Overdrive, robotic cameras, Chyron Prime, and NewsTicker is advantageous.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer to integrate new technologies and enhance the station's infrastructure.
  • Assist in the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all station equipment.
  • Manage and repair HVAC systems for both studio and transmitter facilities.
  • Install and maintain studio lighting, computers, furniture, and other essential equipment.
  • Support the maintenance of the station's vehicle fleet, including live satellite trucks and operational vehicles.
  • Participate in capital projects, including design, installation, and ongoing maintenance.

Compensation:
Salary range is $35K-$40K, commensurate with experience.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A technical degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field is preferred, along with a flexible approach to adapting to new systems and technologies.
  • Experience with digital electronic systems in a broadcasting context is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills are preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:


The Broadcast Engineering Technician must be capable of standing for extended periods, sitting, reaching, climbing ladders, engaging in phone conversations, and utilizing electronic mail.

This role requires independent decision-making and collaboration with others. The position may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions as well as indoor work in climate-controlled environments.

The technician should be able to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, and possess the dexterity to handle tools and controls.

Repetitive motions may be necessary.
