About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our Public Safety team as a Communications Officer. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the safety and well-being of our campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to Emergencies: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including alarms, emergencies, and other incidents.
  • Communicate with the Community: Communicate effectively and respectfully with all members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage Lost and Found: Accept and return lost and found property according to established policies and procedures.
  • Complete Communication Logs: Complete communication logs, including radio/telephone logs and vehicle use logs.
  • De-escalate Conflicts: De-escalate difficult situations by remaining calm, being empathetic, and maintaining impulse control to resolve matters while ensuring the exercise of authority respects the rights of individuals and groups.
  • Assist Emergency Services: Assist local law enforcement, fire, and other emergency service agencies in the performance of duties when requested.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma
  • Experience and Qualifications:
    • Computer Skills: Essential computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and experience using email and internet.
    • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service and interpersonal/communications skills required to respond to sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
    • Written Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills to effectively communicate and document required reports.
