As one of the oldest residential liberal arts and sciences colleges in the United States, Lycoming College is excited to announce two full-time positions available for passionate candidates to join our Public Safety team as Communications Specialists.
We are committed to providing a high-quality undergraduate education while fostering an inclusive and equitable campus environment that supports all faculty, staff, and students. This role serves as a primary point of contact for the Lycoming community within the Public Safety Office, requiring specialists to be highly responsive to the diverse needs and experiences of all members of our campus.
The positions available are full-time, with shifts scheduled for Sunday - Thursday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. These roles are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, with starting pay at $13.50 per hour, along with retention bonuses of $0.50 per hour after six months and an additional $1.00 per hour after one year of active employment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to and accurately document service requests in line with established policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
- Alarm responses (fire, facility systems, etc.)
- Assisting students, staff, and visitors
- Emergency situations
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all campus community members and visitors.
- Manage lost and found items according to established protocols.
- Maintain communication logs, including radio/telephone and vehicle use logs.
- Oversee the distribution and return of keys to the key cabinet.
- De-escalate challenging situations by remaining calm, empathetic, and exercising sound judgment while respecting individual rights.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
