As one of the oldest and most esteemed residential liberal arts institutions in the nation, Lycoming College is inviting applications for two full-time Communications Officer positions. This role is integral to the Public Safety team, serving as the initial point of contact for the campus community.

The available positions operate on two schedules: Sunday to Thursday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Both roles are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. Starting pay is $13.50 per hour, with retention bonuses of $0.50 per hour after six months and an additional $1.00 per hour after one year of service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to and accurately document service calls in line with established policies, including but not limited to:
- Alarm responses (fire, physical plant systems, etc.)
- Assistance for students, staff, and visitors
- Emergency situations
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all campus community members and visitors.
- Manage lost and found items according to established protocols.
- Maintain communication logs, including radio/telephone and vehicle use records.
- Distribute and manage keys in accordance with college procedures.
- De-escalate challenging situations with empathy and professionalism, ensuring respect for individual rights.
- Assist local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required.
Experience and Skills:
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and email.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy.
- Strong written communication abilities for accurate reporting.
Abilities:
- Ability to understand and apply college policies and procedures.
