Position Overview: This role is designed to deliver essential administrative assistance to the Operations Section. The individual will be tasked with managing office functions and secretarial duties, which encompass organizing meetings, arranging travel, maintaining office documentation, drafting and editing reports and correspondence, keeping accurate meeting minutes, processing invoices, and serving as the timekeeper in SIGMA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and department-specific software such as SIGMA and NEOGOV.
  • Assess the need for office supplies and equipment, ensuring timely procurement.
  • Act as a liaison with Human Resources to facilitate communication and processes.
  • Provide backup support for section programs, including emergency repairs and services.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

About the Organization: The State of Michigan is a comprehensive policing agency with statewide authority, offering a wide array of services directly to residents or in support of other law enforcement entities. The personnel most visible to the public are uniformed officers whose primary duties include traffic enforcement, crime prevention, investigation, and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Typically acquired through the completion of high school.
  • Experience: A minimum of four years of office experience in administrative support roles, including at least one year equivalent to advanced administrative support work (E8 level) or equivalent roles.
  • Alternatively, four years of office experience in administrative support, including two years equivalent to experienced administrative support work (E7 level).

Additional Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug test, criminal history background check, and fingerprint verification.
