Position Summary

The National Sales Account Manager will play a pivotal role in strategically acquiring and nurturing new customer relationships while fostering strong connections with existing clients. Key responsibilities include identifying potential customers, pursuing sales leads, collaborating on product trials, and successfully closing new business opportunities. This role is crucial for achieving consistent revenue and margin growth for Garlock customers. The Sales Account Manager will represent the full spectrum of Garlock products and services to designated clients, leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring that client needs and expectations are met.

Core Responsibilities

  • Account Management: Cultivate and oversee a portfolio of strategic customer accounts, fostering long-term relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Market Insight: Remain informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to provide valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to create and implement effective sales strategies and promotional initiatives.
  • Revenue Enhancement: Achieve and surpass sales targets by understanding customer needs and offering tailored solutions.
  • Customer Interaction: Conduct regular meetings and presentations with key clients to ensure their needs are met and maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with product development, operations, and customer support teams to ensure successful execution of sales strategies.
  • Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare and present sales forecasts, reports, and relevant data to senior management.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven sales and negotiation abilities with a track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the packaging market, including industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Willingness to travel as required for customer engagements and business development, up to 50%.
  • Valid driver's license.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, packaging, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of sales experience, ideally within the flexible packaging sector.
  • Demonstrated success in key account management and driving revenue growth.

Physical Demands

  • Mobility: The role may require frequent travel to engage with customers, attend trade shows, and visit company facilities.
  • Driving: A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle may be necessary for travel.
  • Computer Proficiency: Extensive computer use is integral to this role, requiring candidates to be comfortable with data entry, communication, and presentation creation.
