Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the College Business Office. This position encompasses a variety of tasks related to accounts receivable, cash disbursement processing, vendor management, and banking operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute weekly accounts payable check runs, student refunds, and state appropriation disbursements as required.
  • Monitor outstanding checks, directing identified items to relevant departments for follow-up, and manage necessary voids.
  • Facilitate wire transfers and other banking-related activities as needed.
  • Maintain vendor records, including IRS W-9 forms, new vendor setups, and ACH payment information.
  • Conduct monthly bank statement reconciliations and distribute daily bank transaction data.
  • Investigate and analyze variances in general ledger accounts utilizing the Banner system.
  • Prepare general, adjusting, and correcting journal entries.
  • Ensure adherence to the Cash Management policy established by the College.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of teamwork and collegiality.
  • Support the principle that diversity is integral to the workplace through daily responsibilities.
  • Engage with agency personnel and external organizations to resolve accounting discrepancies and gather necessary data for reports and projects.
  • Prepare financial statements and conduct account analyses as required.
  • Participate in system implementation initiatives, collaborating with administration to enhance processes and promote efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and coordination of audit documentation and financial analysis.
  • Serve as a backup for business office functions as necessary, adhering to internal control protocols.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in accounting or auditing, with at least one year in a supervisory or managerial role. Relevant educational qualifications may substitute for some experience.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide insightful recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
