In this leadership capacity, your focus will be on removing barriers for your team while empowering them to tackle complex technical and business challenges.

Success in this role requires a robust blend of business and technical expertise, the ability to propose solutions that meet the distinct needs of both business and technology stakeholders, and excellence in communication, leadership, and customer engagement.

We seek an experienced technical manager with a proven history of building and nurturing high-performing teams, who collaborates effectively with architecture, User Experience, and product teams.

This is a hands-on technical position, and the ideal candidate should exemplify leadership through action.

Essential Duties
Manage software engineers tasked with designing, building, and maintaining solutions across a range of technology products and services. Oversee the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions.

Establish and influence best-in-class engineering practices through sound design decisions; conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices; and actively participate in resolving defects at both the code and platform levels.

Utilize DevOps tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, Github, and Grafana to monitor and identify opportunities for improvement in delivered products.

Act as a hands-on leader responsible for developing highly scalable and readily available solutions focused on customer needs, while proactively tracking key metrics related to code reliability, reusability, security, and automation.

Hold teams accountable for delivering solutions and strive for continuous improvement in throughput and overall team velocity.

Collaborate with Scrum teams to ensure plans align with team capacity and identify strategies to enhance team velocity and minimize sprint spillover.

Ensure alignment, buy-in, and support from diverse stakeholders by fostering trusting relationships with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management.

Resolve escalated issues throughout the development, configuration, and modification of integrated business and enterprise application solutions.

Design solutions utilizing microservice architecture and rely on event and data-driven API integration.

Work alongside product team members to help inform priorities within a set of products, applications, and services.

Provide input for departmental budgeting and forecasting, managing expenses associated with initiatives within your scope of responsibility. Coordinate the estimation and execution of plans, schedules, and resource forecasts for the services or applications in scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 8 years of IT experience
  • 4 years of experience in software engineering or a related field
  • 5 years working on projects involving the implementation of software development life cycles (SDLC)
  • 3 years of experience leading project or technical teams, providing technical direction, thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field
  • 3 years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility
  • Experience managing operational and/or project financial budgets
  • IT consulting experience
  • Experience in IT Management within the retail industry
  • 3 years of experience in software development in an agile environment
  • Experience working with third-party vendors and/or software solution providers
  • 3 years working in an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
  • Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior leadership
