Legal Investigative Analyst

Position Overview: As a Legal Investigative Analyst within our vibrant legal team, your primary responsibility will be to assist in identifying, investigating, reviewing, responding to, and resolving issues related to the improper use of CoStar's content and services. This role necessitates substantial interaction with personnel across various levels and departments, particularly within sales and customer support. Strong communication skills, proficiency in Excel, and the capability to analyze and convey information efficiently through email and phone interactions are essential, alongside meticulous record-keeping and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, prioritize, investigate, and facilitate the resolution of a diverse caseload of inquiries, including unauthorized use of CoStar services, data theft, and infringement.
  2. Monitor, review, respond to, and assist in addressing issues related to password sharing, unauthorized access, misuse of CoStar services, and misappropriation of content.
  3. Engage in communication with parties involved in suspected misuse of CoStar services.
  4. Document processes and organize records and case materials effectively.
  5. Support initiatives aimed at safeguarding CoStar's intellectual property.
  6. Provide investigatory and additional support for legal matters as needed.
  7. Advise business team members on appropriate licensing practices.
  8. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry and CoStar's business model and technology.

Qualifications for Internal Candidates:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited, non-profit university or college.
  2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in an internal role, with knowledge related to real estate, technology companies, and CoStar's products and services.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and responsibilities.
  5. Ability to analyze, translate, and comprehend data effectively.
  6. Excellent analytical capabilities.
  7. Proficient in MS Excel, including filters, functions, and data organization techniques.
  8. High attention to detail.
  9. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to previous employers.

Qualifications for External Candidates:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited, non-profit university or college.
  2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in areas such as password or license sharing resolution, licensing reviews, intellectual property protection, corporate investigations, digital forensics, or data analytics.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and responsibilities.
  5. Ability to analyze, translate, and comprehend data effectively.
  6. Excellent analytical capabilities.
  7. Proficient in MS Excel, including functions and data organization techniques.
  8. High attention to detail.
  9. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to previous employers.
  11. Evidence of strong academic performance in college.
