Reports To: General Sales Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

Purpose

The Sales Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the General Sales Manager by planning, organizing, and overseeing the operations of the New-Vehicle Sales department. This position is vital in evaluating employee performance and ensuring departmental success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and forecast departmental goals and objectives, striving to achieve them.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork across all departments.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the new vehicle sales department with guidance from the Dealer and General Sales Manager.
  • Participate in management meetings as required.
  • Assist in forecasting controllable expenses for the new-vehicle department.
  • Stay informed about and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations affecting new-vehicle sales.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate the performance of new-vehicle sales staff.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all department personnel.
  • Enhance the dealership's image and customer satisfaction ratings through effective management of new-vehicle sales personnel.
  • Ensure that dealership policies and procedures are communicated and adhered to by the sales team.
  • Monitor payroll records for sales staff.
  • Establish sales and profit objectives for new-vehicle sales personnel.
  • Guide sales staff in setting both short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Review daily performance metrics for new-vehicle sales personnel.
  • Assist in creating improvement plans for underperforming sales staff.
  • Recommend termination for any salesperson not meeting company standards.
  • Conduct regular sales training sessions as directed by the General Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with sales staff on initiatives to boost new-car profitability and enhance finance and insurance penetration.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular self-assessments for hazard identification within the sales department and document necessary actions.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure that all sales department employees adhere to safety policies and report any incidents immediately.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and information.
  • Minimum of two years of sales experience; supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of drug screening and background check is required.
