Financial Reporting Specialist

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) finance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing accounting for new products, preparing accounting entries for our GAAP and Statutory financial statements, and working closely with auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Prepare journal entries and ensure the accuracy of accounting transactions processed
- Prepare accounting samples and tests ERP results for new product offerings
- Perform analysis to understand key trends and variances driving financial results
- Develop and document procedures to ensure accuracy of accounting
- Support the preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, insurance agencies, and company leaders
- Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts
- Identify opportunities for and lead implementation of process improvements
- Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax, and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Math
- Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects
- Written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners
- Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports
- Understanding of the structure of data within financial and administration systems
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively multi-task and meet prescribed deadlines on a continuous basis
- Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts and products
- Reinsurance accounting experience
