Financial Reporting Senior Analyst

Securian Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) finance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing accounting for new products, preparing accounting entries for our GAAP and Statutory financial statements, and working closely with auditors and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure the accuracy of accounting transactions processed
  • Prepare accounting samples and tests ERP results for new product offerings
  • Perform analysis to understand key trends and variances driving financial results
  • Develop and document procedures and ensure accuracy of accounting
  • Support the preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, insurance agencies, and company leaders
  • Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts
  • Identify opportunities for and lead implementation of process improvements
Requirements:
  • Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax, and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Math)
  • Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects
  • Written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports
  • Understanding of the structure of data within financial and administration systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and meet prescribed deadlines on a continuous basis
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts and products
  • Reinsurance accounting experience
