About the Position:

The Senior Assessment Planner plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating the institutional assessment and effectiveness initiatives. This encompasses, but is not limited to, supporting annual assessments and program evaluations for co-curricular units, Mason Core assessments, assessment data management, and internal and external reporting on assessments. The role also involves contributing to assessment analysis and research, and serving as the application administrator and technical support expert for institutional assessment software platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Mason Core Assessment:

  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness to deliver regular assessment training sessions and workshops, including individual and group consultations.
  • Develop and refine assessment tools, such as rubrics.
  • Create and maintain Mason Core assessment data dashboards that provide essential metrics for the assessment process.
  • Monitor and ensure the timely completion of assessment activities.
  • Participate as a member of the Mason Core Assessment Council.

Co-Curricular Assessment:

  • Provide management and assistance to co-curricular units in utilizing the university's planning and reporting tool.
  • Ensure the submission of assessment plans and results in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain a repository for assessment reports and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Engage in an assessment peer review process for academic, co-curricular, and administrative units.
  • Offer training to units to ensure best practices in assessment.
  • Deliver professional learning opportunities on assessment topics by organizing workshops and maintaining a library of assessment methodologies and resources.
  • Support ad hoc project assessments.
  • Serve as a member of the Co-Curricular Assessment Council.

Program Review:

  • Facilitate co-curricular program review processes to support institutional effectiveness goals.
  • Establish and maintain the program review schedule.
  • Maintain a repository for program review reports.

Assessment Data, Reporting, and Management Support:

  • Provide data support for requests and dashboard development.
  • Prepare reports on assessment analysis and research findings for university leadership.
  • Produce executive memos, detailed reports, and visualizations showcasing assessment analysis results.
  • Organize and disseminate assessment projects and reports on the OIEP webpage for stakeholder access.
  • Support ad hoc assessment initiatives at both program and institutional levels.
  • Guide faculty and staff on utilizing the university's planning and reporting tool through consultations and training sessions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent with demonstrated experience in assessment, higher education, or social science research.
  • Experience with student learning outcomes, assessment practices, and rubric design.
  • Proven experience in report writing and presenting findings on assessment-related projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver workshops on assessment initiatives.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in a relevant field or comparable work experience.
  • Extensive experience in assessment and higher education.
  • Proficiency in survey administration and assessment platforms.
  • Familiarity with statistical analyses and packages.
