Job Overview

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, Rivers Institute (COPRI) as its Director. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading nonprofit professional membership association dedicated to the advancement of civil engineering and make a meaningful impact on the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to COPRI, ensuring alignment with ASCE's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement effective plans to manage and grow COPRI's operations, programs, and services.
  • Collaborate with the ASCE Board of Governors and other stakeholders to advance COPRI's objectives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of COPRI's technical, educational, professional, and standards activities.
  • Network with other organizations to identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration.
  • Manage and develop staff, establish budgets, and reconcile finances.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute technical conferences, webinars, and workshops.
  • Develop and implement communications, marketing, and sales plans for membership, events, products, etc.
Requirements
  • A 4-year degree in engineering or a technically related field, or association management - an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 8-10 years' experience in an engineering field, or association management experience with a technically oriented organization.
  • Mastery of the MS Office Suite of products.
  • Demonstrated success managing people, programs, and projects.
  • Adept at marketing, negotiations, networking, operations management, multi-tasking, diplomacy, & listening.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
