Habitat for Humanity of Madison and Clark Counties (The Affiliate) is a faith-based community service organization dedicated to providing homeownership opportunities and fostering communities of hope as an expression of compassion.

In alignment with the mission of HFHMCC, the Chief Executive Officer will undertake the following responsibilities and duties:


Administrative Oversight:


Oversees the operations of the Habitat office, including management of both paid and volunteer personnel, and collaborates closely with the Board President and board members on administrative matters.

The paid staff includes an Executive Assistant/Payroll Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Fund Development Coordinator, and a future Construction Manager.

Facilitates the orientation, training, assessment, and development of staff and volunteers.

Manages employee performance through guidance, supervision, and professional growth initiatives, including regular performance evaluations.

The Executive Director serves as the General Manager for two ReStore locations, overseeing store operations, marketing strategies, budget adherence, and personnel management.

Maintains awareness of affiliate committee activities and serves in an advisory capacity on all committees except Personnel and Nominating, encouraging volunteer engagement in board and committee activities.

Assists the Treasurer in formulating the annual budget and presents it to the Board for approval.

Collaborates with the finance committee to ensure audits and financial processes are completed efficiently.

Authorizes expenditures in accordance with Board-approved guidelines and works with the Executive Assistant and external accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Ensures responsible stewardship of the affiliate's assets and facilities, maintaining confidentiality and legal compliance in record-keeping.

Organizes new construction and repair initiatives, such as community service projects.

Submits regular reports to various federal and state funding agencies, as well as Habitat International.

Acts as the primary liaison to Habitat International, fostering a positive working relationship.

Collaborates with the Board President to review, update, and establish affiliate policies and procedures in alignment with HFH International standards.

Sets the agenda for monthly Executive Committee and Board meetings, compiling necessary data for distribution to members.


Fundraising and Community Engagement:

Assists the Board in developing both short-term and long-term strategic plans and the resources required for their implementation.

Collaborates with the Board, Fund Development Coordinator, and Development Committee to create and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy and budget.

Plays a pivotal role in resource development, ensuring compliance with affordable housing grant applications, nurturing corporate sponsor relationships, and enhancing the effectiveness of fundraising events and overall development strategies.

Responsible for partnering with staff and the Board to develop and implement a public awareness initiative.


Communication:

Acts as the representative of the Affiliate to various stakeholders, including communities, churches, businesses, foundations, and community leaders.

Serves as the primary communication conduit among the regional office, board members, committees, staff, families in need, homeowner families, and volunteers.

Facilitates the orientation of new board members and volunteers.

Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent life experience is required.

Demonstrated business acumen and experience in non-profit management and fundraising are essential.

A minimum of 5 years of management experience is preferred.

Must be a proactive self-starter.

Experience with Habitat for Humanity or similar non-profit housing organizations is advantageous.

Familiarity with affordable housing initiatives, whether in construction, planning, or service delivery to economically disadvantaged populations, is beneficial.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire engagement and support.


Hours and Compensation: This is a full-time salaried position requiring a 40-hour work week, with additional evening and weekend commitments, both in-office and on-site.

Benefits include paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, health insurance, and a voluntary retirement savings plan.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and education, within the range of $60,000-$70,000.
