Responsibilities
Open Sky Career Services employs a comprehensive service model that emphasizes collaboration, coordination, and communication with all partners serving individuals receiving support through Competitive Integrated Employment Services. Our aim is to assist job seekers in developing employment goals and securing meaningful, sustained employment.
Career Counselors adhere to the guidelines of the Competitive Integrated Employment Services model to help individuals stabilize their employment and achieve successful outcomes. They support individuals in identifying integrated employment opportunities tailored to their interests, skills, abilities, and needs.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with relevant agencies to assess individuals' employment and educational goals.
- Evaluating individuals' vocational readiness by developing essential skills such as job application completion, resume writing, and interview preparation.
- Representing Open Sky in meetings with funding bodies related to work responsibilities and support for individuals served.
- Assisting individuals in understanding and accessing their benefits, such as SSI and SSDI, and clarifying how these benefits may impact their employment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, including behavioral health challenges, required.
- Ability to work independently with proven time and task management skills required.
- Comfortable using technology for documentation and organization.
