Engineering For Kids of North Atlanta is dedicated to introducing children aged 4 to 14 to the exciting realms of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) through engaging after-school enrichment programs, workshops, camps, and special events.

Our programs are fully Accredited, Cognia Certified, and align with National Teaching Standards.

Position Overview

  • Instructors will be assigned to various locations, including educational institutions and community centers, based on their availability for after-school enrichment sessions. This role is distinct from traditional aftercare or childcare services, as our Instructors facilitate enrichment classes across multiple venues.
  • Each Instructor will receive a structured weekly schedule, typically conducting one-hour classes on designated days. Instructors may teach at more than one location each week, maintaining consistent schedules at each site.
  • Instructors will be provided with necessary materials and supplies for their classes, which must be returned at the end of each semester.
  • Instructors may also cover for absent colleagues or fill in at locations with staffing gaps until those positions are filled.
Classroom Responsibilities
  • Instructors are expected to deliver the designated lesson plans to enrolled students at their assigned locations.
  • They will manage the setup, distribution, and cleanup of materials required for the activities outlined in the lesson plans.
  • Effective classroom management skills are essential for maintaining a productive learning environment.
  • Instructors must adhere to the program's operational guidelines and the teacher handbook.
  • Compliance with each site's specific instructions regarding campus and class operations is required.
  • Professionalism must be maintained in all interactions with students, parents, site personnel, and program staff.
  • Any significant program-related issues should be reported to the designated program staff promptly.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in elementary or middle school settings is required. Experience in enrichment or classroom teaching is advantageous.
Educational Background
  • A college degree or progress towards a college degree is mandatory.
Certifications
  • Instructors must present valid CPR/First Aid Certification documentation before commencing teaching duties.
Additional Requirements
  • Access to a laptop or computer and a printer is necessary.
  • Reliable transportation is essential, as instructors will need to transport materials to and from classes.
  • Some locations may require additional background checks, including forms, fingerprinting, and/or drug screening, with compensation provided for these requirements.
  • External training may be mandated for certain sites, with compensation for time spent in training.
Compensation
  • Hourly pay ranges from $20 to $25 for teaching after-school enrichment classes.
  • Instructors will receive additional compensation for early arrival and post-class duties.
  • Monthly attendance bonuses and semester bonuses are available.
  • This position is classified as an Independent Contractor (1099-NEC tax form).
  • Mileage reimbursement is not included; instructors are encouraged to track mileage for tax purposes.
Location
  • Primarily serving areas in North Atlanta, with potential assignments in various zip codes.
Schedule
  • Classes are typically held Monday through Thursday, with up to 8 hours of work per week based on availability and class needs.
  • Start and end times will vary by location, generally falling between early afternoon and early evening.
