Position Overview:

The Field Systems Technology Manager is a proactive and technically proficient leader responsible for overseeing the technology systems associated with roadway operations, specifically within tolling projects. This role encompasses the entire lifecycle of technology systems, from initial design through to operational maintenance, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and scheduling of field systems, ensuring seamless integration with roadway and back-office systems.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying risks and proposing technical solutions to senior management.
  • Assist in managing contractors for the development and implementation of roadside systems, adhering to project timelines.
  • Review and approve documentation produced by contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Toll Operations Manager to ensure back-end systems align with roadside technology.
  • Evaluate all technical documentation, including requirements and test plans, to ensure operational compliance.
  • Participate in various testing phases to validate system performance against established requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on project status, risks, and tasks for senior management review.
  • Identify opportunities for project optimization and negotiate change requests as necessary.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of field systems, ensuring adherence to performance standards.
  • Manage field technicians, including task delegation and performance tracking.
  • Ensure all personnel receive necessary training and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of existing communication links as required.
  • Be available for on-call support to address system failures.
  • Monitor system performance and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7 to 10+ years of relevant experience in technology implementation or management.
  • Hands-on experience with telecommunications or technology systems is highly desirable.
  • Project management experience in coordinating teams in a technology-driven environment is preferred.

  • Ability to effectively manage and delegate tasks to a team of field technicians.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and vendor contracts.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a self-managed team structure.
  • Proficient in multitasking and problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of IT network communications and systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate to high noise levels due to proximity to heavy machinery.
  • Frequent travel to roadway sites may be required.
  • Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
