Position Overview:

The Field Systems Technology Manager is a proactive and technically proficient professional responsible for overseeing roadway technology systems throughout their lifecycle, from conception to operational management. This role is crucial in ensuring that tolling projects align with all stipulated requirements. The manager will lead and coordinate contractors to fulfill these obligations while ensuring timely project execution, budget adherence, and optimal design implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and scheduling of field systems to ensure seamless integration with roadway and back-office operations.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying risks and proposing technical solutions to senior management.
  • Assist in managing contractors involved in the design and implementation of roadside systems, ensuring compliance with project timelines.
  • Review and approve documentation produced by contractors to ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Toll Operations Manager to ensure integration of back-end systems with roadside technology.
  • Ensure all software and hardware components meet operational requirements.
  • Evaluate documentation for compliance with operational and technical standards.
  • Participate in various testing phases to validate system performance against requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on project status, risks, and outstanding tasks for senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for project optimization and manage change requests effectively.
  • Maintain field systems through a structured Operation and Maintenance plan.
  • Supervise field technicians, managing resources and delegating tasks efficiently.
  • Ensure all personnel receive necessary training, including health and safety protocols.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for operational decisions and assist in procurement processes.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of existing systems within project limits.
  • Be available for on-call support to address system failures as needed.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Prepare reports related to system operations and maintenance for internal review.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies among all personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in technology implementation or management.
  • Hands-on experience with telecommunications or technology systems is highly desirable.
  • Project management experience in coordinating teams within a technology-focused environment is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and vendor contracts.

This position may involve exposure to moderate to high noise levels, requiring occasional travel to roadway sites. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform tasks requiring visual acuity and prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
