Overview

Princeton University is seeking a skilled customer service professional for the position of Financial Services Associate within our Financial Service Center. This role involves being part of a dedicated team responsible for managing the Financial Service Center operations during standard University hours. The associate will embody the values of the Office of Finance and Treasury, ensuring exceptional customer service while supporting various Finance and Treasury functions.

In this capacity, the Financial Services Associate will offer direct assistance in person, via phone, or through email to the University community on a variety of Finance and Treasury processes. Utilizing the University's Service Now portal, the associate will track and resolve service requests efficiently. Key responsibilities include managing access to financial systems, addressing inquiries related to financial reports, overseeing financial transactions for academic departments, and providing first-line support to vendors and partners interacting with Finance & Treasury systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service Support: Deliver comprehensive support through the Princeton Service Portal, addressing inquiries related to financial services such as purchasing, payroll, travel, and student accounts. Represent the Office of Finance and Treasury at various informational events and serve as a Notary Public for the University community.
  • Systems Security and Access: Manage security protocols and system access for all financial systems under the Office of Finance and Treasury, ensuring appropriate purchasing and payment approval authority.
  • Cashiering Services: Provide cashiering services, including currency disbursement and accounting validation for departmental petty cash replenishment.
  • Process Improvement and Training: Develop tracking mechanisms to assess service delivery effectiveness and collaborate with the Finance and Treasury training coordinator to create training programs on relevant topics.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • 1-3 years of pertinent work experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand diverse departmental needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, and accounting procedures, preferably in an academic context.
  • Experience in frontline customer service roles, effectively handling inquiries via phone and email.
  • Proficient in analyzing and troubleshooting financial transaction inquiries across various systems.
  • Ability to communicate policies and procedures clearly to a wide audience, including faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
  • Attention to detail and discretion, particularly when managing sensitive information and financial transactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at Princeton or a similar institution is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials or other financial ERP systems.
