Senior SAP FI Applications Specialist

Location: Remote/Hybrid

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate

The Senior SAP FI Applications Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of IT Applications and will be responsible for overseeing systems activities and projects related to assigned applications. This role involves designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing application programs with a primary focus on SAP FI, In-House Cash, Coupa, Concur, and Vertex.

Key responsibilities include providing expert guidance to the Treasury, Accounting, Finance, and Tax (TAFT) teams to facilitate problem resolution and contribute to training initiatives. The position encompasses application planning, execution, and support, which includes system maintenance, configuration, updates, integration, and managing the change control process. The specialist will also implement new functionalities, ensure adherence to application standards, and promote best practices in support.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of SAP GL, AP, AR, FM, Automatic Payment, FICO-MM Integration, FICO-SD Integration, Electronic Bank Statement, In-House Cash, Coupa, Concur, and Vertex.
  • Manage processes related to payment enablement, closing schedules, year-end adjustments, and 1099 processing.
  • Analyze detailed system requirements based on business needs articulated by the TAFT teams.
  • Configure and validate modifications to support new system developments and enhancements.
  • Provide functional specifications to ABAP developers for custom modifications.
  • Assess the impact of SAP AOPs (Add-on Packs) and SAP Release upgrades, providing subject matter expertise.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of Enterprise Test scripts.
  • Resolve issues reported by end-users, ensuring timely ticket closure.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from development to production, adhering to TAFT procedures and utilizing tools for process control and reporting.
  • Regularly communicate status updates and proactively address potential issues or risks.
  • Collaborate with team members and TAFT groups to prioritize and adjust workloads as necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including TAFT and IT applications teams.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and the drafting of User Stories or Technical Specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, stability, usability, maintainability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare systems for monthly closing processes, ensuring data readiness and efficient task flow management.
  • Provide training to end-users and serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • 5 to 7 years of IT experience with a focus on finance and accounting application support or implementation.
  • Proficiency in business process design, requirements gathering, and gap analysis.
  • Experience with SAP S4 Hana FI/CO configuration.
  • Familiarity with Coupa or Ariba is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as formulas, pivot tables, and v-lookups.
  • Experience with Oracle Shared Services and Life Cycle Management.

  • Experience in SAP S4 Hana configuration and testing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing customer interaction.
  • Ability to translate end-user business challenges into system requirements.
  • Experience leading or coordinating project segments.
  • Proficient in configuration, testing, maintenance, and support activities.
  • Ability to evaluate user change requests and secure necessary approvals.
  • Experience in conducting unit testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Knowledge in various SAP areas, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and more.
  • Strong understanding of SAP FI/CO configuration, integration, training, testing, and implementation.
  • Capability to perform ad hoc analysis and data validation.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
