Position Overview

The Department of Food & Agriculture is in search of a qualified individual to assume the role of Staff Services Manager I. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the Grants Unit.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and authorizing cooperative and grant agreements through various platforms, ensuring compliance with departmental and federal standards.
  • Providing expert guidance to team members regarding Requests for Proposals, ensuring clarity and adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Managing the Grants Unit's budget, including planning and forecasting fiscal needs.
  • Supervising staff in the execution of grant agreements, ensuring all activities align with applicable laws.
  • Participating in audits and addressing any findings related to grants administration.
  • Interpreting state and federal guidelines to ensure proper procedures are implemented.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Developing and enforcing policies and procedures related to grant management.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in grants administration, providing strategic advice to program management.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required for training and meetings. The position allows for potential telework arrangements in accordance with departmental policies.
