Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Financial Grants Specialist to become a vital part of a prominent philanthropic organization. This role is essential for managing the accounting and financial reporting associated with government and non-profit grants and contracts. This is a temporary role with significant potential for permanent employment. Compensation: $39.40/hour.

Ideal Candidate: The successful applicant will possess at least 2 years of experience in grant accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting within a non-profit setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with finance and program teams to formulate budgets for awarded grants and contracts funded by private foundations or government entities.
  • Develop and sustain multi-year grant and contract budget reports utilizing SAGE Intacct.
  • Generate multi-year grant reporting in SAGE Intacct and Adaptive.
  • Conduct financial reporting for expense reimbursements.
  • Scrutinize invoices for reimbursement by internal deadlines to comply with funder requirements.
  • Ensure all expenses are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
  • Verify payroll allocations align with the grant budget.
  • Record entries for direct and indirect revenue and grants receivable.
  • Document entries for the recognition of deferred revenue.
  • Reconcile totals to the approved budget prior to finalizing invoices.
  • Process invoices in Concur for payment following compliance review and approval.
  • Monitor compliance reports and provide them to the funder.
  • Prepare financial reports reflecting actual grant expenses.
  • Review financial reports from partners by internal deadlines to meet funder requirements.
  • Ensure all expenses are recorded in the general ledger.
  • Include any additional expenses not reported in previous financial reports.
  • Reconcile totals to the general ledger before finalizing financial reports.
  • Prepare budget modifications as necessary.
  • Present final financial reports or budget modifications to program leadership.
  • Reconcile multi-year grant reports with financial report totals.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in non-profit accounting, particularly in grant budgeting and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; alternatively, 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including 1 year as a grant accountant, may substitute for a degree.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as SAGE Intacct, Salesforce, Concur, Adaptive, and advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret proposals, reports, journal entries, financial and database reports, grant agreements, contracts, and memos.
  • Competence in composing business correspondence.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with partners, grantees, contractors, and community members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
