Job Summary

The Department of Housing & Community Development is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Multifamily Grants Management Branch Chief. This position will oversee and direct a branch of professional staff responsible for the disbursement of funds, monitoring program compliance, and reporting program outcomes of grant-funded Housing and Community Development multifamily programs, including Homekey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct a branch of professional staff responsible for the disbursement of funds, monitoring program compliance, and reporting program outcomes of grant-funded Housing and Community Development multifamily programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective management of multifamily programs, including Homekey.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with program requirements and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, local governments, and other state agencies.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management and other stakeholders on program performance and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in grants management, program administration, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in managing complex programs and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and policies.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for hybrid telework and may be eligible for full-time remote work in some circumstances and/or time-periods, at the sole discretion of the Department. Telework-eligible applicants must reside in California. Headquarter location will be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location. This is subject to change if HCD's criteria is met.
