Direct Staffing Inc is seeking a qualified Project Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering division.

The ideal candidate will engage in a diverse range of building projects across various sectors including Public & Institutional, Manufacturing, Distribution, Healthcare, and Corporate throughout the United States.

This role requires a proactive leadership approach in overseeing a local team of engineers, designers, and technicians. Responsibilities include participating in design review meetings, selecting equipment and systems, coordinating with regulatory agencies, conducting quality control reviews, and managing resources effectively.

Deliverables will include Contract Documents comprising drawings and specifications for mechanical systems such as HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection.


Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Project Managers, vendors, and clients to discuss project objectives, requirements, and budgets.

- Supervise specialists, technicians, and engineers to ensure quality assurance, adherence to schedules, and budget compliance.

- Mentor department personnel by providing ongoing support and professional development opportunities.

- Lead the mechanical design and planning phases of projects, oversee the production of contract documents, review submissions, and address field coordination challenges.

- Demonstrate proficiency in various document delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, fast-track delivery, and Integrated delivery via Design-Build.
- Exhibit expertise in engineering analysis and calculations for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Show proven competency in utilizing Revit and other BIM applications, including work planning activities associated with a BIM-enabled process.

- Participate in compliance reviews with various governing agencies regarding zoning laws, fire regulations, building codes, and other ordinances; communicate relevant changes in local, state, and federal regulations to department managers and staff.


Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

- Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical sections of Life Safety Codes, IBC Code, and Building Codes at local, state, and federal levels.

- Ability to write and edit Mechanical specifications and select equipment for mechanical systems and devices.
- Conduct job-site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and design layouts.
- Report on design process status and cost analysis to the appropriate Project Manager; responsible for Mechanical project budgets.
- Apply the company's risk management practices in project engineering.

- Engage in research and review industry publications to stay updated on Mechanical Engineering developments; attend seminars, conventions, and summits; collaborate with Section Leaders, Project Managers, and Market Sector Leaders to enhance or develop new engineering methods for improved efficiency, quality, and reliability.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.

Education and Licensing:
- BSME degree from an ABET accredited institution.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the Mechanical Engineering field is preferred.
- Professional registration as a Mechanical Engineer is required.
- Experience in designing for Federal, Healthcare, or Industrial markets is advantageous.

- Membership in local, state, or national industry organizations is a plus; LEED Accredited Professional status is also beneficial.
