Position Overview:

The Mechanical and Electrical Project Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the efforts of subcontractors and Turner trade personnel regarding the mechanical and electrical systems integrated into the project.

This role ensures compliance with safety standards, timely project delivery, quality assurance, and budget adherence.

The position includes supervisory responsibilities for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor within the designated area.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Directing and managing the performance of work related to scheduling, logistics, quality control, and staffing levels.
  • Facilitating collaboration among assigned trades to ensure a seamless project operation.
  • Addressing local issues concerning procedures, design clarifications, labor, equipment, and scheduling.
  • Implementing and managing the site safety program, ensuring compliance with Turner standards and safety regulations.
  • Mentoring and developing Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns, including conducting performance evaluations.
  • Creating and managing project schedules and determining work sequencing.
  • Formulating and executing recovery strategies to maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Engaging with owners and architects/engineers to resolve field-related issues.
  • Overseeing the billing process, including work estimates, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payments.
  • Ensuring all work is executed in accordance with approved contract documents.
  • Collaborating with engineers on the coordination of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment layouts.
  • Leading project inspections, commissioning, and handover processes for system acceptance.
  • Coordinating and supervising subcontractor and supplier activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Reviewing project changes in collaboration with the Project Engineer.
  • Maintaining detailed records of trade contractors' work progress.
  • Participating in preconstruction activities to enhance project feasibility.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or a minimum of four years of formal engineering or architectural experience, coupled with at least six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong knowledge of construction practices, scheduling, cost control, and contract documents.

Specific expertise in Mechanical and Electrical Systems is essential.

Proficiency in building information modeling and its application in coordinating project systems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules effectively.

Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this role.


Physical Requirements:

The role necessitates physical capabilities to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, and maneuvering in various work areas.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Physical tasks may involve lifting and moving items up to 75 pounds.


Work Environment:

The position is primarily based on-site at construction locations, exposing the employee to various environmental conditions, including noise and potential hazards.
