Responsibilities

This hybrid role requires candidates to report to our Bloomington, IL office once a week. Employees must reside within a commutable distance to the Bloomington location.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support our facilities organization-wide. Candidates must be willing to take and pass the Professional Engineer (PE) exam within a specified timeframe.

  • Provide project management and consulting services for mechanical, plumbing/HVAC, controls, and environmental compliance.
  • Deliver engineering design and commissioning for company facilities.
  • Implement and uphold company engineering design standards.
  • Interpret and prepare construction documents, drawings, and facility plans.
  • Produce mechanical engineering documentation for various facilities.
  • Manage and coordinate the efforts of external engineering design consultants.
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Inspect and evaluate facilities.
  • Conduct mechanical engineering, facility, and operational reviews, providing recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee service delivery and property management vendors to ensure reliable facility maintenance procedures.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering construction cost estimates and analyses.
  • Support business partners in the operation and maintenance of mechanical engineered systems.
Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The role encompasses all owned and leased facilities, including data centers. A minimum of 5 years of experience with an Architectural/Engineering firm is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or candidates must be willing to take the PE exam within a designated timeframe.
  • Experience in facilities-related mechanical engineering is essential.
  • Candidates should be licensed at least in the State of Illinois, with potential for additional states in the future.
  • Inspection and operation of mechanical engineering systems may involve physically demanding and hazardous conditions.
  • Physical mobility may be necessary for climbing ladders and performing other physical activities related to construction and building inspections.
  • Overnight travel to various company locations may be required, along with a flexible work schedule.
  • Experience in mechanical/fire system planning and operations with a focus on design, construction, and operational efficiency is preferred.
  • Willingness to work beyond standard business hours, including varying shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
