Position Overview

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee tasks that require critical judgment in the evaluation, selection, and significant adaptation of established methods, procedures, and criteria.
  • Successfully manage medium to large-scale engineering initiatives by organizing and controlling various project components.
  • Collaborate closely with a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer for technical oversight and support.

Key Duties:

  • Analyze and assess system concepts and alternatives to identify the optimal design and engineering solution tailored to each project's requirements.
  • Create detailed design drawings and specifications for the construction of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Identify system types and engineer air distribution systems, as well as chilled, heating water, and steam systems.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts with engineers, designers, AutoCAD technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Engage with clients to discuss modifications to designs and/or specifications.
  • Conduct systems analysis and prepare comprehensive reports and studies, including cost estimates.
  • Ensure the distribution of all approved drawings and specifications is managed effectively.
  • Collaborate with other design team members, including architects and mechanical and structural engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems across all trades.
  • Work collaboratively with the construction team, project manager, and installation crews.
  • Participate in design team meetings as necessary.
  • Assist leadership in managing the design manpower budget and updating it to reflect any changes in project scope.
  • Represent AKF Group LLC professionally in all interactions with owners, architects, vendors, and other design professionals.
  • Contribute to the firm's human resource initiatives by training and mentoring junior staff members.
  • Collaborate with marketing, leadership, and business development teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing HVAC systems is essential.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Proven business development skills are required.
  • Ability to consistently meet and exceed client expectations is crucial.

Certifications:

  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • LEED Certification is preferred.

Work Classification and Schedule:

  • This is a Full-Time Salaried Exempt position.
  • The standard workweek is Monday through Friday.
  • Extra hours may be necessary to meet client demands.
  • The schedule will include both in-office and remote work hours.
  • Some travel for client meetings may be required.
  • Assignments may involve support for projects across various offices and sectors.
