Responsibilities

This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring candidates to report to our Bloomington, IL location once a week. Employees must reside within a commutable distance to the Bloomington office.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to enhance our corporate team in Bloomington, Illinois, providing support for our facilities organization-wide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project management and consulting for mechanical, plumbing/HVAC, controls, and environmental compliance.
  • Engineering design and commissioning for company facilities.
  • Implementation and maintenance of engineering design standards.
  • Preparation and interpretation of construction documents, drawings, and facility plans.
  • Production of mechanical engineering documentation for company facilities.
  • Coordination with external engineering design consultants.
  • Collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Inspection and evaluation of facilities.
  • Conducting mechanical engineering, facility, and operational reviews and providing recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversight of service delivery and property management vendors to ensure reliable facility maintenance procedures.
  • Preparation of mechanical engineering construction cost estimates and analyses.
  • Support for business partners in the operation and maintenance of mechanical engineered systems.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, preferably with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection expertise.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license or the willingness to take the PE exam within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience related to facilities mechanical engineering.
  • Licensure in the State of Illinois (additional states may be required later).
  • Ability to inspect and operate mechanical engineering systems, which may involve physically demanding and hazardous conditions.
  • Physical mobility to climb ladders and perform other activities related to construction and building inspections.
  • Willingness to travel overnight to company locations and adapt to a varied work schedule.
  • Experience in mechanical/fire system planning and operations with a focus on design, construction, and operation.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
