Position Overview
The University of Minnesota is seeking applications for a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This role involves engaging in advanced research initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of professional skills and the acquisition of new research methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
As a Research Fellow, your primary duties will include:
1. Conducting high-level experimental, theoretical, and numerical research (60%)
2. Preparing presentations, publications, and grant proposals (20%)
3. Mentoring graduate and master's students (10%)
4. Organizing and managing laboratory operations (10%)

Research and Collaboration
In this position, you will be expected to:
- Generate innovative research concepts and lead the formulation of new research proposals.
- Collaborate with a diverse team within the University and partner institutions.
- Author and co-author research publications for peer review, assist in preparing progress reports for funding agencies, and contribute to conference presentations.

Mentorship and Leadership
As a Research Fellow, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance on technical inquiries, data analysis, and research plan development.
- Act as a lead on research projects, coordinating activities and communicating project needs effectively.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain accurate records of research data.

Teaching Opportunities

Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Additional qualifications may be determined by the supervising faculty member.
