Position Overview

The Technical Lead plays a crucial role in the setup and management of audiovisual systems for events of varying scales within a hospitality setting, ensuring utmost client satisfaction. This position is accountable to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management

  • Oversee the precise and timely assembly, operation, and disassembly of intermediate audiovisual equipment.
  • Diagnose technical issues and implement swift resolutions as they occur.
  • Adhere to all company security and safety protocols.
  • Safeguard equipment against theft and damage during use.

Client Relations

  • Deliver exceptional service and aim to surpass the expectations of both internal and external clients.
  • Act as a leader, mentor, and coach for fellow technicians, embodying Encore's commitment to World Class Service.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients through effective communication.
  • Engage with guests on-site to ensure their requirements are met and that equipment setups function correctly.
  • Monitor events and check in with clients throughout the day.
  • Understand and nurture the relationship between the hotel and clients.

Technical Expertise

  • Possess a deep understanding of the technical elements of the role and demonstrate advanced skills in troubleshooting and resolving equipment and software issues.
  • Proactively address potential equipment challenges and adapt to changes in a timely and professional manner.

Systems Proficiency

  • Comprehend company procedures, follow established protocols, and accurately complete system entries and documentation.
  • Utilize equipment sheets to identify scheduled equipment for setup and breakdown.
  • Collaborate with other staff and external vendors regarding equipment needs.
  • Enhance revenue through effective upselling techniques.
  • Assist clients in finalizing invoices as necessary.
  • Utilize Encore systems and applications as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is mandatory; an Associate's degree is preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in audiovisual technology is required.
  • Internal candidates must hold Technical 1-Star Certification prior to application. External candidates will be required to obtain this certification within 60 days of employment.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for roles involving company vehicle operation.
  • Additional DOT requirements may apply if relevant.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is essential.

Work Environment

This role is conducted in a hotel/convention center setting with moderate exposure to outdoor elements and dust. Working conditions may vary from quiet to noisy environments. Team members will utilize high-end audiovisual equipment and electrical components and may work at heights using lifts and ladders. Flexibility in working hours is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Team members must meet specified physical criteria to effectively perform essential job functions, categorized as follows:

  • Occasionally: Peripheral Vision, Carrying, Pushing/Pulling Over 100 lbs.
  • Frequently: Color Vision, Depth Perception, Lifting 16-50 lbs., Carrying 16-50 lbs., Pushing/Pulling 16-50 lbs.
  • Continuously: Close Vision, Distance Vision, Hearing, Lifting 0-15 lbs., Carrying 0-15 lbs., Pushing/Pulling 0-15 lbs.

Time allocation per day includes:

  • 0-1 hours/day: Climbing
  • 2-3 hours/day: Sitting, Stooping, Crawling, Kneeling, Bending, Reaching (above head)
  • 4-5 hours/day: Standing, Walking, Grasping
