About the Position:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Inspector General operates as an autonomous entity within the EPA, dedicated to enhancing the agency's capacity to safeguard the environment in a more effective and economical manner.

Role Overview:
Our team conducts thorough audits, evaluations, and investigations aimed at fostering economy and efficiency while actively working to identify and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse within the agency.

Qualifications:
All candidates must possess 52 weeks of specialized experience. This experience should provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully fulfill the responsibilities of this role, typically acquired through relevant work experience.

Specialized experience may be gained through federal service or its equivalent in state or local government, the private sector, or non-governmental organizations.

GS-13 Requirements:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level, which includes:

  1. Organizing investigations related to financial fraud (such as contract or grant fraud);
  2. Directing inquiries that involve employee misconduct;
  3. Employing criminal investigative techniques, including knowledge of criminal procedures, laws, and constitutional rights relevant to evidence admissibility, search and seizure, and related investigative issues.

Selective Placement Factor:
Law Enforcement Training:
Successful completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) or an equivalent federal law enforcement training program is mandatory. A certificate of completion must be submitted with the application.

Failure to provide the required certificate will result in an incomplete application and disqualification from further consideration.
