We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Consultant with a specialization in biosafety to enhance our Professional Services team. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety of our clients' employees, contractors, and customers while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

The primary responsibility of the EHS Consultant is to conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of work environments, equipment, and processes to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety regulations. This position emphasizes the importance of protecting both the workforce and the surrounding environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of regulations related to the Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines concerning biosafety.
  • Apply biosafety principles effectively across various laboratory and research settings.
  • Possess a solid understanding of recombinant DNA technology, viral vectors, and associated biohazards.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in diverse environments.
  • Participate in inspections and evaluations of laboratory compliance.
  • Conduct safety inspections and assess the use of personal protective equipment in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in accident investigations and propose corrective actions.
  • Facilitate routine EHS training sessions for employees.
  • Prepare detailed reports, including accident documentation and compliance records.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in biosafety, environmental safety, or laboratory compliance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Biology, Microbiology, or Occupational Health.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a BSL2/ABSL2 environment.
  • Completion of professional development courses in biosafety.
  • Active membership in a national safety organization.
  • Progress towards obtaining relevant professional certifications.
