American Oversight - Senior Media Relations Manager

American Oversight (AO) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit watchdog organization committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and democracy by upholding the public's right to access government records. Since its inception, AO has been instrumental in holding public officials accountable by acquiring and disseminating a wealth of essential information.

Position Summary:

  • Oversee media engagement initiatives to bolster ongoing investigations and legal actions.
  • Foster relationships with influential journalists and media organizations.
  • Craft and disseminate press materials, including announcements and key messaging.

Primary Duties:

  • Execute media engagement strategies under the direction of the Communications Director.
  • Handle press relations for various inquiries and topics.
  • Conceive and propose narratives to journalists regarding AO's initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional background.
  • 4+ years of experience in media relations, ideally within U.S. politics or public policy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
