Senior Vice President of Risk Management and Safety

The Senior Vice President of Risk Management and Safety at Goodwill Industries of Tulsa plays a pivotal role in shaping, executing, and overseeing comprehensive safety and loss prevention initiatives. This position is essential in ensuring adherence to safety standards, minimizing workplace incidents, managing potential risks, and safeguarding assets through strategic foresight, robust training, and effective program execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop tailored safety initiatives that align with the organization's unique challenges and risks.
  • Draft and implement thorough safety policies and procedures, including emergency response strategies and training programs.
  • Oversee the dissemination of safety initiatives and policies throughout the organization, ensuring comprehensive employee understanding and adherence.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential hazards, crafting strategies to minimize risks effectively.
  • Lead thorough investigations into workplace incidents, injuries, or near-misses, conducting root-cause analyses to inform future prevention efforts.
  • Ensure timely reporting and meticulous record-keeping, while developing and executing corrective measures to avert future occurrences.
  • Design and deliver extensive training programs focused on safety protocols, emergency response, and loss prevention methodologies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and monitoring of compliance with established safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders to guarantee that employees are equipped with and utilize the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive emergency response strategies, conducting regular drills and assessments to ensure readiness.
  • Devise strategies to mitigate theft, fraud, and other forms of loss.
  • Implement loss prevention tactics and security measures throughout the organization to deter and monitor theft and fraudulent activities.
  • Work in conjunction with managers and department heads to weave loss prevention practices into everyday operations.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on recognizing and preventing theft and fraud.
  • Stay informed on industry standards and regulatory requirements, revising organizational policies as necessary.
  • Gather and compile data for safety and loss prevention reports, ensuring timely submission to relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct systematic evaluations and audits of the workplace to ensure compliance with safety and risk management standards.
  • Provide leadership and support to the team, fostering professional development and promoting a culture of safety.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and integrate updates in industry standards and regulatory requirements into organizational policies.
  • Compile data for safety and loss prevention reports, ensuring timely submission to relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Establish stakeholder committees to promote a culture of safety and risk management.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure regular audits and inspections of equipment meet industry standards.
  • Encourage a culture of vigilance and accountability through ongoing safety and loss prevention education and awareness initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other pertinent safety standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and training abilities.
  • Proficient in data analysis and the development of actionable safety and loss prevention strategies.
  • Must meet age requirements and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Adherence to the organization's Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and loss prevention, ideally within a retail or nonprofit context.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or a similar credential is preferred.
