Job Summary:

The University of Tulsa seeks a highly experienced and skilled Chief Information Security Officer to lead its information security program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive information security strategy that aligns with the university's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the information security team, ensuring the effective implementation of information security policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive information security program that includes risk management, incident response, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior university leadership to ensure that information security is integrated into the overall business strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of information security awareness and training programs for university employees.
  • Manage and oversee the university's physical and logical access control systems, including video surveillance and card access systems.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including vendors and industry associations, to stay informed about emerging information security threats and best practices.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to university leadership on information security-related matters.
  • Develop and manage the information security budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support the information security program.
Requirements:
  • 8 or more years of experience in information security, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification required.
  • Strong understanding of information security frameworks, including ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST.
  • Experience in incident response management and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior university leadership and external partners.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop effective solutions to complex information security problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM) certification.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role in information security.
