This firm has established a robust infrastructure designed to optimize value throughout various market conditions. In light of our ongoing expansion and achievements, we are in search of a Senior Vice President, Title Legal Advisor based in Texas.

Position Summary:
As the primary in-house legal advisor for a national title and settlement services provider, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant state, federal, and local regulations impacting the business. Your role will involve providing comprehensive legal guidance related to title insurance, licensing, underwriting, title claims, and both residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research and implement compliance strategies for all title insurance and settlement services regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with executives to oversee and guide compliance policy development and risk management strategies.
  • Facilitate audits conducted by regulatory bodies and underwriting partners.
  • Negotiate, draft, and amend agreements with clients and vendors.
  • Offer legal advice concerning title claims, disputes, marketing materials, and other relevant issues.
  • Manage the application and renewal processes for title producer/agent and other insurance-related licenses.
  • Provide regular reports and oversight to the General Counsel and senior management regarding compliance matters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional analytical skills to interpret legal and statutory documents, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Adept at functioning in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective presentation and writing skills for interactions with senior management.

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in the title and settlement services sector.
  • Preferred experience in both in-house and law firm settings.
  • Experience managing title claims and collaborating with title insurance underwriters.
  • Proficient in reviewing and updating policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Experience working with state insurance departments on licensing and regulatory matters.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas.
