As an Agricultural Equipment Technician, you will play a vital role in various operations at our research center, contributing significantly to the success of our projects through effective field management.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a range of agricultural research machinery, including tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on various agricultural equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assess equipment functionality and troubleshoot any arising issues.
  • Assist local operators and provide necessary support.
  • Inspect fields for weeds or other concerns and implement appropriate treatments.


During peak periods such as planting, pollination, and harvest, weekend work and overtime may be required to ensure the success of our research initiatives.

Maintain effective communication with growers, colleagues, key customers, and management.

  • May oversee and direct the work of temporary and seasonal staff.
  • Contribute to fostering a safe and respectful workplace.
  • Assist with additional research and safety projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Essential Skills:
  • A Bachelor's degree in agriculture or a related scientific field is preferred. Experience in agronomy, biology, plant breeding, or a similar area is beneficial.
  • Proficient in operating agricultural research equipment, including tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines.
Technological Proficiency:
  • Familiarity with standard Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new technologies and software.
Communication Skills:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to collaborate with diverse groups.
Results Orientation:
  • Self-driven with the ability to initiate projects, implement improvements, and solve problems. Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational capabilities.
Safety Commitment:
  • Dedication to maintaining excellent safety and risk management practices.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical lifting and work outdoors in various ergonomic conditions. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including shifts and overtime during peak seasons.


Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record is required, along with the potential to obtain a commercial vehicle license and a private pesticide applicator's license.
