Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and minor repair work to the interior and exterior of buildings, including plumbing, heating, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Assist in major repairs and maintenance tasks, working closely with senior technicians to ensure high-quality results.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and prevent building damage.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, including replacing filters and lubricating equipment.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and assemble supplies in preparation for work orders.
  • Perform surface preparation and apply protective coatings to various surfaces.
  • Move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Perform pick-up and delivery duties, and inventory and order supplies as directed.
  • Maintain grounds, campus roads, sidewalks, and parking lots, including lawn mowing, trimming, and snow removal.
  • Operate College vehicles and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Complete work orders for room setup or breakdown, and provide general maintenance services to other Blackhawk Technical College campuses as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Specialized technical training in building construction systems, mechanical/electrical systems, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience involving trades work or general repairs and maintenance to buildings.
  • Ability to work under varying conditions, including dusty, hot, or cold areas.
  • Ability to use personal computers, spreadsheets, word processing, and maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships.
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations.
