Position Summary:
The Field Service Mechanic A role is designed for individuals who possess mechanical proficiency and are committed to delivering exceptional service to our branches in a safe and efficient manner.

This position involves maintaining all equipment in optimal working order through a robust preventative maintenance strategy and a comprehensive repair schedule.

The incumbent will serve as a master technician, showcasing extensive product knowledge and representing Herc Rentals with professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct oil changes, equipment lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and various other services.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy machinery to ensure operational efficiency at job sites.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
  • Recondition and replace parts to restore equipment to safe working conditions.
  • Educate clients on the proper use of equipment to prevent future malfunctions.
  • Analyze equipment for wear and tear, addressing issues to ensure proper usage until the next scheduled maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols at active job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at job sites.
  • Generate timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
  • Follow all company procedures and protocols.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
  • Ownership of a sufficient range of hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.
  • Proficiency in operating and testing equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps, and various tools.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Availability to be on call to meet operational needs.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Ability to operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Timely follow-up with customers.
  • Safe handling of various tools.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Strong customer service skills for effective communication with job site foremen.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of active job sites.

  • Solid computer skills for entering work orders.
