About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Total Transportation of Mississippi. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and accountability to our dedicated accounts, ensuring seamless execution of our transportation services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and accountability to all assigned accounts, fostering a sense of teamwork and partnership.
  • Resolve escalated personnel and customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring exceptional service and on-time delivery.
  • Review and analyze weekly stats and monthly P&L statements to ensure preset margins are met and provide guidance to exceed customer expectations.
  • Recruit and manage office and driver personnel for new accounts, ensuring a smooth transition and high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement driver and tractor utilization analysis, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Communicate surge requirements to regional and long-haul business, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Assist in all phases of operational functions, including ordering tractors and trailers to meet customer requirements.
  • Continuously improve all areas of accounts from operations to collections, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Communicate new procedures and policies to all account personnel, ensuring a high level of understanding and compliance.
  • Stay in direct contact with other departments, providing assistance and support as needed.
  • Promote a high level of safety awareness, ensuring all assigned accounts operate in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation, preferably in dedicated contract carriage.
  • Strong understanding of basic rules and regulations regarding trucking operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all departments and levels of associates.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. geography and the calculation of transit times across multiple U.S. time zones.
  • Effective, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate the AS400 dispatch system.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Minimum travel requirement of 3 weeks per month.
