Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role involves responding to urgent service requests promptly, providing crisis intervention to stabilize family dynamics, address school attendance challenges, and manage incidents of youth running away. The professional will conduct assessments in-home or within the community, offering family preservation services that include counseling, limited case management, and skills-based interventions. Timely preparation and submission of all necessary documentation and reports are essential. The position requires a deep understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.

Qualifications:

Education: A Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related discipline is mandatory. Candidates must hold a valid license as one of the following: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor or Intern (LPC or LPC-I), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Associate (LMFT), or Licensed Psychological Associate or Psychologist. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish, Arabic, or Vietnamese are preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with at-risk youth is required, specifically in crisis intervention, intake and assessment, and individual and family counseling. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in crisis intervention techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Seeking Safety curriculum, group facilitation, and public relations. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver stabilizing, short-term crisis intervention and evidence-based individual and family counseling.
  • Facilitate evidence-based parenting skills groups and program group sessions for youth and their families.
  • Promote the agency's mission and advocate for families through professional collaborations within the community.
  • Ensure successful outcomes within designated treatment timelines.
  • Provide community intervention and case management services to youth and families.
  • Act as a professional liaison within the community, adhering to agency policies and maintaining a positive representation.
  • Work schedule includes Tuesday to Saturday.

Working Environment:

Exposure to children exhibiting behavioral challenges, including potential physical aggression. The role may involve risks associated with traveling to unfamiliar neighborhoods to deliver services in various settings.

Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to policies governing personnel and client records.

Expectations:

  • Follow agency intake procedures and utilize evidence-based practices in service delivery.
  • Provide comprehensive counseling and training services as outlined in the agency's core service components.
  • Collaborate with various community agencies to assist youth and families in crisis.
  • Maintain accurate client records and fulfill documentation requirements in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance professional development.
