Job Overview

Position Purpose:

The primary role involves responding to urgent service requests within a 24-hour timeframe, offering crisis intervention to stabilize family dynamics, address school attendance challenges, and manage instances of youth running away. The position entails providing both in-home and community-based assessments along with family preservation services, which include counseling, limited case management, and skills-based interventions.

Qualifications:

Education: A Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related discipline is essential. Candidates must hold a valid license as one of the following: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor or Intern (LPC or LPC-I), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Associate (LMFT), or Licensed Psychological Associate or Psychologist. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, or Vietnamese is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with at-risk youth is required, focusing on crisis intervention, intake and assessment, as well as individual and family counseling. Candidates should exhibit strong skills in crisis intervention techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Seeking Safety curriculum, group facilitation, and public relations. Excellent communication and time management abilities are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver short-term crisis intervention and evidence-based individual and family counseling.
  • Facilitate parenting skills groups and program group sessions for youth and their families.
  • Engage in community intervention and case management services.
  • Collaborate with various community agencies and professionals to advocate for families in need.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures while representing the organization positively.
  • Work a schedule that includes Tuesday to Saturday.

Working Environment:

Be prepared for exposure to children exhibiting behavioral challenges, which may include potential physical aggression. There may also be risks associated with traveling to unfamiliar neighborhoods to provide services.

Confidentiality:

Uphold confidentiality standards and adhere to policies regarding personnel and client records.

Community Engagement:

  • Promote the agency's services within the community to enhance utilization.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with local service providers.
  • Conduct presentations to schools and organizations as necessary.

Training and Development:

  • Participate in all required training sessions and supervision activities.
  • Complete annual continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain clinical licensure.

Documentation:

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date client records.
  • Adhere to all agency requirements for documentation and billing.
