The Family Therapist plays a crucial role in delivering mental health evaluations and therapeutic interventions for young individuals. This position involves providing high-quality, holistic care using the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model, while consistently monitoring and documenting the mental health and overall adjustment of the youth in our programs. The Therapist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement tailored treatment plans. Additionally, this role includes working closely with the administrative team to ensure that therapy sessions align with the needs of the youth and support the overall functioning of clinical services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, assessing the youth's circumstances and providing appropriate ongoing treatment.
- Deliver crisis intervention services to all youth, including screening for potential human trafficking issues.
- Apply various therapeutic techniques and protocols to effectively manage youth behaviors.
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards.
- Engage and educate family members or significant others in the treatment process as needed.
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and situations of each patient.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with a strong ability to listen attentively.
- Compassionate and positive demeanor, with proven relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team environment.
- A minimum of a master's degree in human services, mental health, psychology, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience working with youth or in a residential care setting.
- An independent license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet program needs.
- Must pass tuberculosis screening and background checks from relevant authorities.
- Obtain and maintain First Aid Certification (CPR) and fingerprint clearance.
- Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive as necessary for program services.
- May involve lifting and carrying weights up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds infrequently.
- Tasks may require standing or walking for 50% of the day, with sitting for the remaining 50%.
- May involve bending, stooping, reaching, and grasping as needed.
