Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Adolescent and Family Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in identifying, evaluating, and delivering crisis support, emergency accommodations, and therapeutic services within a Trauma-Informed Care framework for youth facing homelessness or trafficking challenges. This position is responsible for disseminating educational resources to both youth and the broader community about the issues surrounding runaway, homeless, and trafficked adolescents, while also coordinating with various agencies to provide comprehensive support services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized service and aftercare plans tailored to the unique needs of clients.
  • Coordinate resources to promote behavioral stability and ensure a safe living environment post-shelter.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of clients and their families.

Qualifications:

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution is required. A Master's degree or additional certifications are preferred.

Experience:

  • For candidates with a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of three years of relevant experience in youth counseling, crisis intervention, intake assessments, or case management is required.
  • For those with a Master's degree, at least one year of experience in similar roles is necessary.
  • Experience in working with adolescents and families in crisis, particularly utilizing Trauma-Informed Care and strength-based case management techniques, is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license in Texas must be obtained within 90 days of residency.
  • An acceptable driving record is mandatory.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and insurance for travel related to job duties is required.

Working Environment:

This role involves exposure to children exhibiting behavioral challenges, including potential physical aggression and crisis situations. The position requires outreach efforts to engage at-risk or homeless youth and may involve exposure to health-related risks.
