Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise production operations to ensure efficient and effective production processes.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, including workstation assignments, employee training, and vacation planning.
  • Guide and supervise the work of production employees, including leads, to ensure high-quality products and meet production targets.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers to minimize downtime and optimize production.
  • Provide input on work procedures, priorities, and ongoing feedback to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in production as required to meet business needs and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Train, coach, and mentor production employees to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Promote positive employee relations and effective team cooperation to drive individual and team performance.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for corrective and preventative actions in response to daily safety, product quality, and product delivery issues.
  • Coordinate with Production Manager and Human Resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels and resolve production-related issues.
  • Conduct shift meetings and participate in production employee meetings to communicate production plans, goals, and expectations.
  • Responsible for meeting shift production requirements, identifying shortcomings, and developing recovery plans to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Assist with quality control throughout production and investigate and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent, reduce, or eliminate reoccurrence.
  • Assist with development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) to ensure production team is working within established standards.
  • Communicate effectively with other Shift Supervisors and Production Manager to ensure seamless production operations and address production-related issues.
  • Assist with completion of paperwork for Worker's Compensation injuries/illnesses and near misses, and assist in accident investigations.
  • Assist in inventory counts as needed to ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Ensure clean and safe work areas and assist with development of 5S expectations and overall execution.
  • Assist in employee performance reviews and development to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Support new product development initiatives within the organization to drive business growth and innovation.
  • Assist with trouble-shooting issues from quality, machine operation, and material processing, and develop and implement solutions to improve reoccurring problems and support continuous improvement.
  • Continually focused on reducing all forms of waste throughout the manufacturing process, including scrap, redundancy, material flow, and work content.
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.
  • Safety glasses are required in production areas, and other PPE is available/required depending on the area of the plant.
Requirements
  • Technical/Associates degree or 5 years of leadership experience required.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience required.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery required.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office knowledge, required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and leadership required.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and direction required.
  • Ability to manage projects or improvements from initial problems to final solutions, as well as maintain them required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve required.
  • Ability to work in a standing position throughout the shift required.
  • Must be available to work any shift and overtime as required.
