Position Overview:

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a contract opportunity. This role requires a strong presence in a collaborative environment focused on providing innovative solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Contract.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to an integrated team responsible for developing and maintaining the essential physical, functional, and technical requirements baselines that define the capabilities of the evolving MDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) system.
  • Demonstrate expertise in mission analysis, including the development of use cases, sequence diagrams, and SysML modeling to support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Utilize Agile methodologies, with a focus on Epic and Feature definition.
  • Generate system and element-level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and manage the achievement of desired capabilities.
  • Engage in logical architecture modeling and interface definition, with a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and security accreditation.
  • Develop use cases and prepare systems engineering artifacts, including the definition of Epics and Features for program Cross-Functional Product Teams.
  • Assist in the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), architectural documentation, and engineering estimates, while also conducting formal and informal engineering reviews.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior systems engineering team members in enhancing their use case development skills.
  • Review technical products and serve as a technical liaison to MDA counterparts as needed.

Work Environment:

This role operates under the guidance of various technical leads and product owners, requiring effective collaboration with team members, management, and government clients to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products.


Essential Qualifications:
  • Proficient in requirements elicitation, derivation, and decomposition to lower-level subsystems and components.
  • Experience in maintaining system and component baselines within a requirements management system.
  • Ability to define relationships between internal and external components.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying system-level use cases and associated Epics and Feature relationships to a diverse audience.
  • Familiarity with other Space Domain and Missile Defense Systems is highly advantageous.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various tasks on short notice is essential.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Educational Background:

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, with at least 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 7 years of experience; or a PhD with 4 years of experience.


Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a first shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, following a 4/10 work arrangement.


Additional Information:

Candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to access classified government information.
