POSITION OVERVIEW (Job Summary):

The role involves overseeing critical procurement activities to ensure adherence to delivery schedules, quality standards, and customer satisfaction for CPM. Responsibilities include managing daily purchasing tasks such as negotiating contracts, issuing purchase orders, expediting deliveries, handling material returns, and tracking inventory levels. This position is vital for meeting customer deadlines while optimizing budgetary constraints.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Procure assigned materials and services for CPM, collaborating with the Purchasing Manager and fellow Buyers to leverage strategic supplier relationships when applicable.

Conduct competitive sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of products and services, encompassing both inventory and non-inventory items under supervision.

Maintain the MRP/ERP system in relation to procurement activities.

Review daily material shortage reports; expedite any anticipated shortages and overdue items with suppliers, updating delivery timelines in the ERP system accordingly.

Ensure compliance with delivery expectations, guaranteeing materials arrive on or before the required dates.

  • Provide administrative support as directed by the Supervisor or upon request from team members, including tasks such as retrieving engineering drawings and distributing communications.
  • Adhere to standardized processes and maintain necessary reports as required by CPM.

Establish and maintain clear communication with suppliers regarding CPM's expectations for delivery, quality, customer service, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

Keep accurate procurement records, documenting purchased items, costs, delivery performance, product quality, and inventory levels.

Uphold the highest ethical standards while adhering to CPM's policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Regularly communicate any material issues that may affect customer deadlines with Customer Service, Project Managers, and other relevant team members.

Participate in team meetings to identify material needs and address related challenges.

Comply with Quality Management System processes, including supplier approval and handling of non-conformance reports (NCRs). Track and resolve discrepancies concerning non-conforming materials supplied by vendors.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs):

Key metrics include CPM On-Time Delivery performance, Supplier On-Time Delivery performance, Supplier Quality performance, cost savings, actual costs versus budgeted costs, inventory turnover, and other KPIs aligned with CPM's vision and mission.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement principles and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • High energy level with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

DESIRABLE:

Familiarity with the purchasing function in an Engineered to Order environment.

Experience in small volume or custom manufacturing settings.

Background in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma and/or Associate's Degree.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Supply Chain or Purchasing within a manufacturing context.

DESIRABLE:

Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (office-related equipment).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Walking.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
